Name: Currarong Pools

Natural pools. The only evident man-made improvements are the set of stairs with a handrail leading to the pool and the signboard erected by Shoalhaven City Council. These pools are not far from the wreck of the Merimbula.

Shell middens testify to a lengthy Aboriginal presence on the Beecroft Peninsula.

Currarong is the settlement nearest to the Point Perpendicular lighthouse on Jervis Bay. That lighthouse was constructed in 1899 and is now within the Jervis Bay Military Reserve. The Beecroft Peninsula is a Defence Bombing range.

The S.S. Merimbula was wrecked when it ran aground on a rock shelf off Beecroft Headland.

Beautiful from many angles, but of small significance as a visitor attraction. One of the many natural rock pools along the NSW coast that are used with little modification as swimming places. Signposted and known to local residents and visitors.
