Real estate agents have long advertised proximity to baths or views of ocean baths to promote property sales. Residential properties offering easy access to ocean baths or good views of ocean baths can attract high prices. This holds even for expensive properties with their own swimming pools.

Advertisements for real estate at Coogee around 1915 featured the ocean baths and images of ocean baths still often appear in real estate advertisements for properties in NSW coastal communities. The developer at Pearl Beach constructed ocean baths to help promote sales of his properties in the late 1920s.
