Smoking

Floating cigarette butts detract from the appeal of swimming at the ocean baths. The butts could have come from pool users, fishers or been washed in from a surf beach.

At the Black Head pool, butt bins are provided for smokers.

By 2004, a number of Sydney's coastal councils were thinking of banning smoking at the beach. Once smoking is banned on surf beaches, can ocean baths be far behind?
